The Federal High Court of Nigeria all over the Federation will on Monday July 9 commence its annual long vacation for the year 2018.
According to a circular issued in that respect, the Chief Judge of the Federal High  Court, Justice Abdu Adamu Kafarati, has pursuant to the provisions of Order 46 Rule 4(a) of the Federal High Court Civil Procedure Rules 2009, approved the long vacation which begins Monday July 9 and ends Friday September 14 , 2018

According to the circular which was signed by the Chief Judge, during the vacation, only the core divisions namely, Abuja, Lagos and Portharcourt, will remain functional, and avail litigants the opportunity to approach only these courts.

In the proceeding schedule as stated in the circular, the Abuja division will entertain cases from the Federal Capital Territory, North Central, North Western, and the North Eastern parts of the country.

The Lagos division will take cases from the Western parts of the country, while the Portharcourt division will cater for cases from the South-South and South-East.

The circular further states that “only cases of extreme urgency, such as arrest of ships and fundamental rights cases, are to be entertained during the period,”

In Lagos division, Justice Muslim Hassan and Justice (Prof.) Chuka Obiozor are listed as vacation judges for the duration of the vacation.

Meanwhile, the circular further states that the 2018/2019 Federal High Court Legal Year and Annual Judges Conference, will hold from September 17 to September 20.
