Former Kogi State gubernatorial candidate Dino Melaye has criticized President Bola Tinubu’s decision to proceed on a three-week leave, noting that “old age” cannot be cured, only managed.

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) chieftain made this known on Sunday night in a post shared on his official X handle.

Melaye’s assertion comes as the ADC presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, claimed that Tinubu is 90 years old and unwell.

Earlier, the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, announced that President Tinubu would leave Nigeria on Sunday for Europe to begin a three-week annual leave.

The media aide added that the President is expected to return to the country immediately after his vacation to join what he described as the “hectic campaign” for the January 2027 general election.

Speaking via a statement, Onanuga wrote: “President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will depart Abuja today for Europe to begin a three-week vacation as part of his annual leave. His first stop will be London, United Kingdom.”

Reacting to the announcement, Melaye noted that only President Tinubu would embark on a three-week leave outside Nigeria at such a critical time.

The former Kogi West Senator went on to advise the incumbent president that old age has no cure.

Taking to his verified handle, he wrote: “Which President will leave his country for 3 weeks? Only Tinubu. Oga, dem no dey treat old age. You can only manage it. Agbalagbi.”
