Atiku’s US lobbyist alleges FBI has 399 pages of files on Tinubu

A US lobbyist Dr Von Batten-Montague-York has alleged in an X post that the FBI and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) have 399 pages of documents relating to President Bola Tinubu.
In the post, he claimed his team informed him that the documents were linked to Tinubu’s alleged narcotics case. He wondered why such a substantial volume of records exist about the Nigerian president in the FBI and DEA records.
The post specifically asked: “What was President Bola #Tinubu’s connection to the reported heroin-trafficking organization to warrant 399 pages of responsive FBI records?”
Von Batten-Montague-York also praised U.S. President Donald Trump and his administration for what he described as greater transparency over the records. He contrasted the current administration’s handling of the matter with that of former President Joe Biden, alleging that the previous administration had refused to acknowledge that it possessed files concerning Tinubu.
Earlier, the FBI warned that its informants and agents could be targeted and assassinated if it makes the alleged drug trafficking record of Tinubu public.
The FBI issued the warning in a court filing while responding to a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit before Judge Beryl Howell of the US District Court for the District of Columbia in Washington, DC.
According to the FBI, some people mentioned in the investigative records could regard the information as derogatory or incriminating, adding that individuals who provided information or participated in the investigation could potentially face violent targeting if their identities were disclosed.
The filing came after Judge Howell ordered the FBI to explain why records relating to the Tinubu investigation should remain withheld and permitted the agency to submit its explanation and relevant records privately for the court’s review.
