Former Bayelsa State governor and National Leader of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Seriake Dickson, has said the movement of the party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and his running mate, Rabi’u Kwankwaso, to the platform wasn’t just an incident that “happened overnight”.
He made this known on Wednesday while appearing as a guest on the Arise Television programme Prime Time.
Obi and Kwankwaso recently dumped the African Democratic Congress (ADC) for the NDC, citing internal divisions and court cases the party was battling.
They eventually clinched the party’s ticket as presidential and vice-presidential candidates ahead of the 2027 general elections.
While fielding questions on the political realignment, Dickson noted that he had worked with the duo as former governors.

He also asserted that many Nigerians believe in the NDC, expressing gratitude for their trust, confidence, and continued support for the young party.
Speaking during the interview, the ex-governor said, “We also brought together Peter Obi and Kwankwaso, two of the country’s most influential political figures, onto our platform.
“These are people I have worked with for a long time, so this convergence within the NDC did not happen overnight.
“We have been able to attract strong membership and earn the trust of my colleagues, including former governors and other distinguished Nigerian political leaders.
“Many Nigerians believe in us, and I want to thank them for their trust, confidence, and continued support.”
