Nollywood actress Destiny Etiko has expressed regret and sadness after losing the ₦5 million she placed on the 2026 FIFA World Cup final between Spain and Argentina.
The thespian, who noted it was her first-ever football bet, shared her disappointment in an Instagram post on Sunday night shortly after the match ended.
Spain dominated all aspects of the encounter but needed a goal in the second half of extra time to secure a deserved victory.
Ferran Torres smashed home a knockdown from Nico Williams to seal a 1-0 win for the reigning European champions.
Reacting to Argentina’s loss and losing her wager, Destiny Etiko described the experience as both financially painful and emotionally draining.

She noted that the tension of watching the game with so much money at stake left her completely overwhelmed.
Accompanied by crying and heartbreak emojis, she vowed never to try betting again and joked that she was done watching football altogether.
Etiko wrote: “First time betting and I lost. Will never try it again. My N5 million is gone. In fact, I’m done watching football. Anxiety almost killed me.”
Her post quickly attracted reactions from fans and followers. While many sympathised with her loss, others teased her over the unsuccessful prediction.
