Ace Afrobeats singer, songwriter, and record producer David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has informed his fans that he needs time away from music, confirming he is going on an indefinite break.
The ‘Electricity’ crooner made this known recently during a livestream session with fast-rising Nigerian Twitch streamer and content creator, Davrel.
During the interaction, Davido told his fans not to expect new music from him anytime soon, stressing that he is currently on “sabbatical”.
He argued that he has “paid his dues” and requires no new music releases to maintain his relevance within the music industry.

According to him, his existing catalogue continues to make waves and dominate club playlists.
“Stop asking me when I am dropping new music. I am on a musical break. Like I said, if you go to the club right now, 10 out of 20 songs are mine. So, I am on a musical break,” Davido said.
He went on to comment on the fledgling celebrity boxing tournament in Nigeria, describing it as a “welcome development”.
“I am actually impressed by the celebrity boxing tournament. It is a welcome development,” he added.
Recently, popular streamer Carter Efe dethroned controversial singer Portable to become the reigning champion of the Nigerian celebrity boxing bout held in Lagos.
