Funke Akindele publicly snubbed Toyin Abraham in March 2026 during the premiere of Iyabo Ojo’s movie, The Return of Arinzo.

Hosts of the 2026 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA), Nigerian comedian Bovi Ugboma and South African actress/producer Nomzamo Mbatha, set tongues wagging after recreating the infamous snub between Funke Akindele and Toyin Abraham.
This year’s edition of the annual event, organised to celebrate excellence in African film, television, and digital content, was held on Saturday night at the Eko Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos.
During the ceremony, Bovi and Nomzamo evoked memories of the viral snub video as the audience cheered the duo on.
While the recreated moment at the AMVCA had the audience laughing, it didn’t escape the attention of those involved.

After the show, Toyin Abraham walked up to Bovi and, with a smile, admitted, “I knew you were going to crack that joke, but I am not going to lie, that was funny.”
In March, during the premiere of Iyabo Ojo’s movie, The Return of Arinzo, Funke Akindele publicly snubbed Toyin Abraham. Netizens reacting to the clip attributed the tension to a long-standing rivalry between the two stars.
Following the controversy, the pair unfollowed each other on social media. Iyabo Ojo later accused Abraham of violating a peace agreement she had made with Akindele.
Coincidentally, Akindele—whose movie Behind the Scenes received four nominations after grossing over ₦2bn at the cinema—did not win any awards on the night.
