The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, has attributed the inability of the ruling party’s screening committee to clear several governors for the upcoming primaries to their tight schedules.

He made this known on Saturday in Abuja while addressing journalists following the party’s screening exercise at the Plateau Governor’s Lodge.

According to Yilwatda, the governors were excused due to official engagements in their respective states.

He specifically mentioned the Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara; his Kwara State counterpart, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq; and the Governor of Ebonyi State, Francis Nwifuru.

He urged them to reach out to the party’s screening committee whenever they are ready, promising they would be attended to promptly.

Speaking after the exercise, Yilwatda said: “Any governor who has issues to attend to, we understand.

“The Governor of Kwara said he has issues to attend to, so we excused him. The Governor of Rivers State also has issues to attend to, and we excused him. We know they are chief executives; they are commanders in their states.

“Any time you are free, call the screening committee. We will provide a room. You can come at your own will and convenience, and we will screen you.”
