Tinubu absent as Atiku, Peter Obi attend 2022 NBA conference

Presidential candidates Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi were among the dignitaries that attended the opening ceremony of the 62nd Annual General Conference of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) themed ‘Bold Transitions’. Their counterpart of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Ahmed Tinubu, was absent. His running mate, Kashim Shettima, was however in attendance.

The NBA conference which is taking place at Eko Atlantic and Eko Hotel and Suites in Lagos State, is scheduled to hold from 19th to 26th August 2022.

The NBA conference will include plenary sessions/interactive panels with questions and answers.

Panelists will be drawn from UN agencies, key experts, civil society and state representatives.

According to the NBA, the conference will also foster bonding and mentoring between bar leaders and millennials.

On the list of speakers are renowned novelist Chimamanda Adichie; associate general counsel at MET, Kaelo Ajuluchukwu; Partner, Dikko and Mahmoud, A. B. Mahmoud; Partner, Banwo and Ighodalo, Abimbola Akeredolu; Head of Legal, Kuda, Adedolapo Adesina; Executive Director and General Counsel at Mobil Producing Nigeria, Adesua Dozie; Director General, BPE, Alex Okoh; Anita Ogbalu, Corporate Counsel MTN.

“The Conference is the leading event of the NBA and a main feature of the annual calendar of the Nigerian legal profession. It presents legal practitioners in Nigeria with a unique opportunity to interrogate issues affecting the profession and society and to continue to seek innovative ways of advancing justice delivery and providing value-adding legal solutions to their clients and the environment within which members of the association operate,” the NBA said on its website.
