Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has suggested that right-back Jurrien Timber and midfielder Mikel Merino might not see any more action for the rest of the season.
The Spanish tactician revealed this on Friday during his pre-match press conference ahead of the Gunners’ Premier League trip to West Ham.

Timber has been sidelined since the Carabao Cup final defeat to Manchester City on 22 March, while Merino is currently recovering from surgery on a broken foot.
When asked if the duo would be available for the London derby against West Ham, Arteta said: “No chance for the weekend.”

Addressing their chances of returning before the end of the campaign, Arteta added: “I don’t know. There’s a fair bit to do. Everything has to be so smooth and quick if they want the chance to play any minutes.”
Arsenal face the Hammers on Sunday in a Premier League fixture that is arguably a must-win for both sides.
While West Ham are embroiled in a relegation dogfight alongside Tottenham Hotspur, Nottingham Forest, and Leeds United, Arteta’s men are looking to secure their first league title in 22 years.
