Arsenal moved eight points clear of champions and second-placed Manchester City after beating north London rivals, Spurs at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium on Sunday evening.

Arteta’s men capitalised on Manchester City’s loss to their local rival, Manchester United on Saturday at Old Trafford with an impressive display that earned them a 2-0 win over Spurs.

Arsenal opened the scoring in the 14th minute when a cross from Bukayo Saka resulted in a howler by Spurs keeper, Hugo Lloris who parried the ball into his own net to make it 1-0 to the Gunners.

The visitors doubled their advantage  22 minutes later after captain Martin Odegaard drilled in a shot from outside the area.

Spurs, who were so poor at the start of the game, did have their chances in the second half but they found visiting keeper Aaron Ramsdale in top form as he denied Harry Kane twice and also stopped Ryan Sessegnon’s angled effort.

There were some ill-feeling and ugly scenes at the end when Ramsdale and Richarlison had a flare-up, before a Spurs fan appeared to aim a kick at the England keeper.
