Brazil head coach Carlo Ancelotti has included Santos forward Neymar Jr. in his provisional 55-man squad submitted to FIFA for the 2026 World Cup.
According to Globo, the former Barcelona striker was featured on the preliminary list sent to football’s governing body by the Italian tactician.
While Neymar’s inclusion offers a massive hint regarding his recovery progress, he has a history of missing out on Ancelotti’s final selections due to lingering fitness issues.
The 34-year-old is currently working relentlessly to prove his match fitness ahead of next month’s tournament.

This urgency stems from Ancelotti’s firm stance that he “will only call up players who are physically ready.”
Despite facing stiff competition for a place in the final 26-man squad, Neymar remains hopeful of representing his country at another major tournament.
While the news provides a boost for Neymar, Ancelotti’s list suggests that Brazil is set to be without Chelsea wonderkid Estêvão for the upcoming World Cup.
Despite the youngster opting for a conservative treatment plan at Palmeiras’ facilities rather than undergoing surgery, the Brazilian Football Federation (CBF) medical department has determined that the rising star will not recover in time for the tournament.
