Former Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi, has stated that he bought the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential form to run for President, not to serve as a running mate.

The former Minister of Transportation made this clear during a recent appearance on Trust TV, where he discussed the battle for the ADC presidential ticket.

According to Amaechi, he did not purchase the party’s presidential form to become another aspirant’s Vice President.

He added that if the ADC intends to produce a consensus candidate, a meeting must be convened. If the aspirants fail to reach an agreement, he insisted that everyone should head to the primaries.

Speaking during the interview, Amaechi said: “Please stop that. I didn’t buy the ADC presidential ticket to become Vice President.”

The ADC chieftain had earlier challenged former Vice President Atiku Abubakar to a presidential primaries contest after the Adamawa State-born politician stated that he does not believe in zoning.
