Melaye, in a post, seemingly queried if President Tinubu deserves a second term after the gaffe.

African Democratic Party (ADC) chieftain and former lawmaker, Dino Melaye, has reacted to President Bola Tinubu’s first re-election campaign gaffe, in which he referred to himself as governor.
The former senator, who represented Kogi West Senatorial District, expressed his surprise over the mix-up on Thursday in a post shared on his official X page.
President Tinubu recently sparked reactions after referring to himself as a governor during the inauguration of the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential campaign council on Wednesday.
The event, which was held on Wednesday, was attended by all governors of the APC, Governor Charles Soludo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Governor Ademola Adeleke of the Accord Party (AP), and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
While acknowledging party leaders and members of the campaign council at the event held at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, Tinubu surprisingly referred to himself as Governor Bola Tinubu. He later corrected himself and referred to himself as President Bola Tinubu.
He said: “Distinguished leaders of our party, all the party members, presidential campaign council, I’ve seen my friend here that I must thank. And next will be the recognition of the Director-General of the presidential campaign council that will bring Governor Bola Tinubu back for a second term… President Bola Tinubu back for a second term.”
Reacting, Melaye said he did not know things were that bad and queried whether such a president merits a second term in office.
Taking to his verified handle, he wrote: “Na wa oooo. I no know say the thing bad like this. Not former Governor Bola Tinubu, not President Bola Tinubu. Governor Bola Tinubu back for 2nd term. Omase ooooo”
