AFN unveils athletes selection procedures for Tokyo 2025 World Championships

The Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN) has released the criteria for selecting athletes for the forthcoming World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, Japan.
According to a statement signed by the Secretary-General, Israel Inwang, athletes must either qualify by Entry Standard or be ranked 1-20 in the World Ranking Quota.
The selection criteria aim to ensure committed athletes represent Nigeria, promote team spirit, and collective responsibility. Stakeholders also must comply with the directives.
The AFN remains committed to supporting dedicated athletes who demonstrate excellence and professionalism.
The federation maintains its commitment to upholding high standards of professionalism and discipline in Nigerian athletics. Athletes have until August 24, 2025, to qualify. The Nigerian team list for Tokyo 2025 will be published afterward.
