ADC asks coalition members for full commitment to the fight for 2027 vote

Opposition figures fraternising with the African Democratic Congress (ADC) have been asked to resign from their current parties and formally and fully join the coalition to provide the war chest and the gravitas required to confront and dislodge Bola Tinubu from the Villa in 2027 because of his ineffective leadership.
The directive speaks particularly to the likes of:
- Nasir El-Rufai – whose resignation from the All Progressives Congress (APC) and membership of the ADC are both in dispute.
- Atiku Abubakar – who has resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) but has not formally joined the ADC.
- Peter Obi – who has not resigned his member of the Labour Party (LP).
ADC National Publicity Secretary Bolaji Abdullahi disclosed the demand in Abuja after a caucus meeting attended by top party leaders and political figures.
“Though a final order has been given to all members to resign membership of other political parties, the caucus was silent on the timeline,” he explained.
“The coalition has rested everything concerning the ADA [African Democratic Alliance]. That means, they are not interested in the registration or otherwise of the association.
“All the presidential aspirants have agreed to support whoever wins the [ADC] primary election.”
Abdullahi also disclosed that the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) would soon announce dates for primaries for the off-cycle governorship elections in Osun and Ekiti.
Those present at the caucus meeting included ADC National Chairman David Mark, National Secretary Rauf Aregbesola, Atiku, El-Rufai, and former Governors Aminu Tambuwal (Sokoto) and Rotimi Amaechi (Rivers).
Obi was absent but sent apologies and reaffirmed his commitment to the coalition.
