Awoniyi missed a couple of opportunities to level the scoreline for Coventry during the week-two league fixture.

Coventry City striker Taiwo Awoniyi has traced his team’s narrow home defeat to fellow Premier League newcomers, Hull City, on Saturday to poor marksmanship.
The Nigerian international made this known while reflecting on his team’s 1-0 loss to The Tigers in a week two league fixture played at the Coventry Building Society Arena.
Frank Lampard’s side lost the match to Liam Millar’s decisive goal in the 82nd minute, following an assist from 24-year-old Mohamed Belloumi.

However, during the clash, Coventry created several chances, with Hull goalkeeper Konstantinos Tzolakis denying Awoniyi from close range in the first half.
Apart from this, the Super Eagles forward also headed another opportunity wide as his newly promoted side struggled to find the back of the net and salvage a point.
Reacting to his team’s back-to-back losses after the game while speaking with Coventry media, Awoniyi noted that the team needed to improve their finishing.
He said, “We did quite well in terms of having the ball; unfortunately, they had that great counter-attack and they took their chance. It is on us to take our chances as well.”
