VDM announces plan to register Ratel as political party, showcases project in Rivers

Social media Influencer VeryDarkMan has shared a video showcasing the progress of a school project undertaken by the Ratel movement in Ahoada, Rivers state.
According to VDM, approximately N190 million has been spent on the project, which he said was funded through donations, with Afrobeats star Burna Boy reportedly playing a major role in its financing.
In the video shared on his instagram page, VDM showcases various parts of the building: the classrooms, field, toilets, a clinic, the fence and other sections of the construction.
He further linked the project to his broader campaign for accountability and transparency in government projects. He claimed that no government has been able to achieve such accountability in similar projects, and challenged Nigerians to show him a public school that is better than the facility.
“There is no government project better than what we have done here with the amount that we have spent. The government will collect way more…we have spent N190 million… And it is well documented. Every penny that was spent will be accounted for, and it just remains small touches to be done”
VDM also announced the future plans to turn the Ratel movement into a political party. He disclosed that the party will begin at the local government level and urged Nigerians to get ready to vote for the party in the future..
According to him, Burna Boy had assigned the Ratel Movement to oversee the project, following their previous records of accountability in their initiatives.
This development has, however, sparked mixed reactions among Nigerians, particularly over the announcement of his political party.
Several Nigerians have linked his previous advocacy and initiatives to a larger political strategy, claiming that it was planned to gain people’s support for the planned political party.
One user, @toochi_snow, wrote: “Someone said this months ago, that has always been his hidden agenda. Now he has unmasked it.”
Another @Tee_Maine1 commented: “But he has said he would never join politics now he want too 🙄’”
Nevertheless, the announcement and project has also received widespread support from many other Nigerians, who have commended him on his plan to make Nigeria a better country.
