Spain head coach, Luis de la Fuente, has boasted that he has “the best team in the world” after his side eliminated France from the 2026 World Cup.

He made this known while addressing journalists after La Roja defeated Les Bleus 2-0 in a semi-final encounter played at the Dallas Stadium on Tuesday.

Mikel Oyarzabal and Pedro Porro scored in either half as Spain booked a place in the final of the global tournament.

They will now play either England or defending champions Argentina for the trophy in the final.

Speaking after the comfortable win, De la Fuente said: “Today we faced one of the best national teams in the world, but in front of them they had the best team in the world. That is different.

“These players deserve everything – day after day they’ve shown their commitment, their solidarity, their generosity, their talent. They make the difficult look easy.”

Prior to the last-four tie, De la Fuente had warned Didier Deschamps’ men that they had a tough game on their hands, noting that Spain had already defeated them twice consecutively.

While analysing the fixture, the Spanish tactician said: “Let me be clear: We are not finished.

“We are going to work to try to overcome France, but they will be just as worried, as we’ve shown we’re the only team in the world capable of beating them in two consecutive matches.”
