Rapper and singer Tochukwu Ojogwu, better known as Odumodublvck, has alleged widespread age-cheating in the Nigerian music industry, claiming that artists frequently lower their ages to secure signings with record labels and attract endorsements from blue-chip sponsors.

He levelled the allegation during a recent livestream with popular streamer, Enzo.

According to the ‘Declan Rice’ crooner, these singers reduce their ages to appeal to labels and brands that cater to specific age demographics.

He attributed this trend to the tendency of most industry investors to avoid older artists.

Addressing the issue, Odumodublvck said: “I am 32, and I don’t bother myself with getting things right at this age.

“A lot of artists reduce their age because of record labels and partnership deals. You know a lot of investors in the music industry wouldn’t want to invest in older artists.”
