DeeOne noted that while ‘sympathy votes’ might ‘have given him some leverage in the last election’, they will not work in 2027.

Comedian and former Big Brother Naija (BBNaija) housemate Aderombi Adedayo, popularly known as DeeOne, has called out 2023 Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate Peter Obi over his perceived unwillingness to spend money on his political ambitions.
He made his feelings known on Friday in a now-trending video shared on his official Instagram page.
DeeOne warned that what he described as “sympathy votes” would not be enough to secure victory, urging the former Anambra State governor to overhaul his political strategy ahead of the 2027 general election.
While counselling Obi in his latest post, the comedian noted that while voters’ emotions might “have given him some leverage in the last election”, they will not work in 2027.
Referring to the ex-governor’s widely publicised modest lifestyle and retail market visits, DeeOne remarked: “I am not saying you should not buy or price groundnuts, but those strategies will not work again.”
He added that underestimating the political strength of President Bola Tinubu and what supporters describe as the ‘City Boy Movement’ would be a mistake.

DeeOne further urged Obi’s supporters to strengthen grassroots mobilisation and campaign logistics.
He cited the example of former United States President Donald Trump, noting reports that Trump invested significant personal resources into campaign efforts as an illustration of the scale of organisation required in national elections.
”A presidential election is not a joke; you have to show workings,” he said.
While condemning Obi’s popular slogan, “We no dey give shishi”, DeeOne noted that people working for him will need money to carry out their duties.
He said: “Just imagine, Labour Party agents during the last election did not even have water to drink at the polling units. They had nothing to eat; what kind of thing is that? If Mr Peter Obi does not have his own money to spend on his own ambition, then he should call his followers and ask them to donate.”
He added: “Telling Mr Peter Obi the truth doesn’t mean you don’t like him. It only means that you want him to do well in the next election.”
