Super Eagles attackers, Alex Iwobi and Victor Moses, were in spectacular form at the weekend as they led their respective clubs to victory in the English Premier League. Iwobi was on the scoresheet for Arsenal in their 5-0 thrashing of Burnley in Coach Arsene Wenger’s final home game for the Gunners after the Frenchman announced his resignation from the club recently.
Moses also gave a man-of-the-match performance as Chelsea trying to secure a Champions League berth for next season, defeated Liverpool 1-0. Iwobi was involved in the build-up to the third goal scored by Alexandre Lacazette after releasing a turbo-mode Hector Bellerin down the right and the Spanish full-back’s pull-back is met with a solid side-foot volley by Lacazette.
With Arsenal leading 3-0 in the 64th minute Gabonese Pierre Emerick Aubameyang threaten to fry his full-back with pace, before letting the ball do the work with a pin-point pull-back for Alex Iwobi. A first-time rocket into the roof of the net made it Four-nil to Arsenal to the delight of the fans while one additional goal by Aubameyang made it 5-0.
Chelsea’s hopes of qualifying for next season’s Champions League were boosted with victory over Liverpool at Stamford Bridge. Olivier Giroud expertly headed in Moses’ cross in the first half after Liverpool had dominated possession and failed to capitalise.
Chelsea host Huddersfield on Wednesday, May 9 before travelling to Newcastle on Sunday, May 13. Liverpool’s final game of the season is at home to Brighton on Sunday, May 13.
