Nigeria’s national football team, the Super Eagles, have arrived in Bissau ahead of Tuesday’s 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) top-of-the-table qualifying clash against Guinea-Bissau..
This was confirmed on Sunday by the Super Eagles Media Officer, Promise Efoghe, after the team touched down.
Nigeria will face the Djurtus on Tuesday to determine who will sit atop Group L following the second fixture of the qualifiers.
Eric Chelle’s men began their quest to qualify for the next AFCON with a 2-1 win over Madagascar last Friday. The Eagles came from a goal down to take all three points at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium.

However, the three-time African champions sit second in the group, as Guinea-Bissau secured a 2-0 away victory over Tanzania on Friday.
According to Efoghe, the Super Eagles had been based in Uyo, the capital of Akwa Ibom State, since their match against Madagascar, where they held a recovery session on Saturday followed by another session on Sunday.
He added that the Nigerian contingent departed Victor Attah International Airport, Uyo, for Guinea-Bissau on Sunday after completing their final training session.
Efoghe said: “The Super Eagles had a final training session earlier on Sunday morning in Uyo before coach Eric Chelle and his players departed for Guinea-Bissau at about 5 p.m.
“The team travelled on board a chartered ValueJet flight.”
He further noted that the team arrived at Osvaldo Vieira International Airport, Bissau, at about 8:40 p.m.
