Military is after us – Gbagyi group

-

The Gwari (Gbagyi) community in Niger State has cried out over the alleged manhunt of the natives by Nigerian Army.

It would be recalled that some soldiers raided Kapdna village, Bosso Local Government Area, Niger State, which led to the death of 11 soldiers and 13 civilians.

Already, the Gbagyi people have declared seven days mourning for their kinsmen who died in the aftermath of the invasion of their community.

They are also praying for divine protection against further military invasion.

Niger State chairman of the apex Gbagyi socio-cultural association in Nigeria, Gbegnu Boknu Yakwo, Comrade Danjuma Steven Paiko, has expressed fears over continued tension in the affected communities, stressing that those who are after their lives are still lurking around to have some of his kinsmen arrested.

Pointing accusing fingers on the head of the Airforce and the Army in the state for using their offices to pursue Fulani agenda of ethnic cleansing against the Gbagyi nationalities who are predominantly farmers spread across Niger, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, Nasarawa and Kogi states, Paiko said his people are still in fear of attacks.

Paiko, who cast doubts on the commission of inquiry set up by the state government to investigate the crisis even though they had made submissions said, “We have been in fear, praying for God’s intervention to save our people from further attacks and possible deaths.

“My people now resort to praying and fasting in the prevalent circumstance. We have embarked on seven days of fasting and prayer, starting from Monday for God to intervene and save us from enemies who want us all dead”.

Paiko told our correspondent that, “The military claimed that our people took away the guns and camera used during the invasion but they had already recovered some guns so what are they coming to do again. They arrested 57 people and later brought only 48 to Court; where are the rest?
