Okoku, who just launched a football academy in the country to help contribute to grassroots, urged officials of the League Management Company (LMC) to do more than they are presently doing.

“There are so many ways to improve our league and have fans troop to the stadia to watch matches, and one of the many that come to mind is for the big name retiring professional players to play their last year or two in Nigeria.

“This will go a long way to increase the number of fans going to watch the games. Another way is what Stephen Keshi is doing at the moment, giving the home-based players opportunities in the Super Eagles to showcase their talents which in turn will bring spectators to the stadia to watch the national players they see on televisions,” he said.

He however commended the efforts of the LMC under the leadership of Hon. Nduka Irabor but urged them to do more.

“There is still room for improvement. So far, so good but they can still do more for the development of the league,” he concluded.
