Tony Rapu rescues 26-year-old drug addict who attended elite schools

The story of Lizzy, a former pupil of two elite schools in Lagos, Vivian Fowler Memorial School and Caleb Nursery and Primary school is causing ripples on social media.

Lizzy was picked up on the street by Pastor Tony Rapu in Ipodo area of Ikeja where she was seen begging to fund her addiction to crack cocaine.

Lizzy said she has been on the streets for seven years. According to her, she was introduced to crack cocaine by her boyfriend who use to put it in her marijuana.

“I finished my secondary school from Vivian Fowler. I went to Caleb Nursery and Primary school. I came into drug through a friend. He used to be my boyfriend. He was putting it in my weed, I don’t know,” she said.

She said she was alarmed when she realised what her boyfriend had done. She said that introduced her to crack cocaine.

According to her, she begs in the morning, afternoon and prostitutes at night in order to fund her addiction.

She said she had seen a lot of rehab centres but refused to go because she felt they won’t help her. She said she has heard of Rapu for a long time after he helped her friend, Bukky beat addiction.

In a viral video posted on social media, Lizzy said she finished her secondary school from Vivian Fowler and attended Caleb Nursery and Primary School.

Social media users wondered w  hat went wrong with her upbringing considering she may have come from an affluent home because of the kind of schools she attended.

Rapu said Lizzy has started the long journey to freedom from crack cocaine as she has been admitted for detoxification.
