Yul Edochie urges Tinubu to set Nnamdi Kanu free

Yul described Tinubu as the man who fought for democracy while pleading with him to release Kanu

Nollywood actor and movie producer,  Yul Edochie has appealed to  President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to release Nnamdi Kanu, the embattled leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB). 

Kanu has been incarcerated since his arrest and repatriation to Nigeria from Kenya two years ago, following his earlier decision to jump bail.

The IPOB leader was picked up over his agitation for the actualization of Biafra and has been facing trial since he was brought back to the country.

However, since President Tinubu assumed power, some governors from the South-east, politicians and other prominent leaders from the region have been appealing to him to release Kanu, but the Nigerian government has refused to set him free.

Taking to his Twitter handle on Tuesday morning, controversial thespian, Yul Edochie joined the list of those urging the new administration to free Kanu.  

In a now-viral post, he described Tinubu as a man who fought for democracy for three decades before pleading with him to free the IPOB leader from the custody of the Department of State Security (DSS).

He tweeted: “To our Leader, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, @officialABAT GCFR. The Jagaban. 

“A man who has fought for democracy for 3 decades, A builder & supporter of men & women.

“My President, please release Nnamdi Kanu. A humble request from your son, Yul Edochie.”
