Some Nigerian youths have trooped out to the streets of Abuja, the nation’s capital, to demand the immediate release of activist, Martins Otse, better known as VeryDarkMan or VDM.
TheNiche had earlier reported that VeryDarkMan was picked up on Friday, May 2, shortly after he visited a Guaranty Trust Bank (GTBank) branch in Abuja to complain about alleged unauthorized transactions from his mother’s account.
His lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, later confirmed the social media influencer was subsequently detained by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

While details of his arrest are still sketchy as the EFCC is yet to make any official statement on the arrest, youths on Monday took to the streets of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) to call for his release.
The protesters, who carried placards with various inscriptions, converged at the junction leading to the headquarters of the EFCC, in the Jabi area of Abuja.
They were seen chanting, “He’s not a thief, Now VDM has blocked the road, Release VDM.”
