‘You got 16 votes’ – Davido mocks ex-presidential aide, Bashir Ahmad, after Osun guber poll comment

​Davido reminded the former media aide to the late ex-President Buhari that he couldn’t change his “poverty-stricken community” when in power.

​Afrobeats star, songwriter and music producer David Adeleke, better known as Davido, has blasted the former media aide to the late ex-President Muhammadu Buhari, Bashir Ahmad, after his remarks about the upcoming Osun State governorship election.

​The ‘Electricity’ hitmaker lambasted the ex-presidential aide on Thursday on X after he suggested his uncle and Governor of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke, could lose the poll.

​It all began when Davido took to social media to celebrate President Bola Tinubu’s directive that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) should immediately unfreeze the Osun State Government’s bank account.

​Speaking via a post on his verified handle, Davido noted that he was present during the telephone conversation between the president and the governor, adding that he “witnessed history”.

​However, while reacting to the comment, Ahmad said he was bookmarking Davido’s post and predicted that the singer would return to X to lament the outcome of the August 15 governorship election after his uncle had been defeated.

​“This tweet is bookmarked. It will serve as a reference for future events. I know you will come back here to lament if the August 15 results don’t go your way,” he wrote.

​Responding to his prediction, Davido mocked Ahmad’s performance during a recent All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election.

​The award-winning artist wrote: “You got 16 votes, bro, in the primaries. STFU.”

​He didn’t end it there; in a follow-up post, the singer accused the ex-aide of failing to make an impact on the lives of his people, despite spending eight years in the administration of the late former President Buhari.

​Davido added: “You measure success by one award. I measure it by sold-out arenas, billions of streams, global influence, and people singing my songs across continents.

​“You had government backing and still couldn’t convince enough people to back you in your small constituency. You’re a small boy who came into politics by accident.

​“You spent 8yrs with the ex-president and couldn’t make a change in your poverty-stricken community.

​“We all have different trophies, Bashir. I’ll keep inspiring the young ones and generations to come while you wait for the next government job to get crumbs.”
