A dispute between two sisters in Akure over non-payment of N800 for soup condiments bought from the younger sibling has led to the death of the elder.
Omowunmi Tewogboye, 35, was confronted by younger sister Bosede Iluyemi who demanded N800 for tomato and pepper she previously bought from her.
It was learnt that the argument escalated when Bosede grabbed her sister’s dress causing Omowumi to slump.
Omowunmi was rushed to the hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.
Ondo Police Command spokesperson Olayinka Ayanlade confirmed in a statement that the suspect has been arrested and is being held in custody while investigation continues.
“This unfortunate outcome underscores how trivial disputes can spiral into irreversible consequences if not peacefully managed,” he said.
The statement quoted Police Commissioner Adebowale Lawal as urging residents to resolve disagreements through dialogue and avoid violence, stressing that the police will ensure justice in the matter.
