Wike sacks celebrated FCT-IRS acting chair, Michael Ango

By Ishaya Ibrahim

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has sacked Michael Ango, the acting chairman of the FCT internal revenue service (FCT-IRS).

According to a statement by senior special assistant to the minister, Lere Olayinka, the most senior official of the FCT-IRS has been directed to take over the running of the revenue agency with immediate effect.

The statement did not disclose the reason for Ango’s sack.

In August 2024, President Bola Tinubu approved Ango’s appointment as the acting chairman of the FCT-IRS.

Tinubu had said Ango brings a wealth of experience and a proven track record in revenue administration, financial management, and organisational leadership.

Last month, members of staff of the FCT-IRS reportedly honoured the acting chairman at an event themed “A night with Ango”, in recognition of his visionary and exemplary leadership.

He was celebrated for his commitment to staff development, administrative transparency, and the ongoing transformation of the organisation into a model revenue institution.
