London club, West Ham United have rejected the first bid by Premier League champions, Manchester City for their captain, Declan Rice.

The Citizens on Monday night offered £80m up front plus £10m in add-ons for the England midfielder but the bid seemed to have fallen short of the Hammers’ evaluation.

Taking to his social media page after the bid was rejected, football transfer expert and Italian journalist, Fabrizio Romano, said West Ham told City they would only sell Rice for a £100 million fee.

Romano tweeted: “West Ham have rejected Man City’s first official bid for Declan Rice worth £80m plus £10m add-ons.”

He added: “West Ham want £100m fee”

“Arsenal will bid again, their third official proposal is expected soon after two bids rejected, last one was £75m plus £15m.” he also wrote in the same post.

Prior to this development, Arsenal had a club-record £90m bid – comprising a £75m fee and £15m in add-ons – turned down by their London rivals after their opening offer thought to be worth £80m plus add-ons was also rejected.

West Ham’s valuation of the England international remains £120m but it is understood the club would accept £100m plus a player.
