Adekunle Gold was reacting to Davido’s threat to report the Nigerian govt to US President Donald Trump during the Osun guber election.

Afrobeats star and songwriter Adekunle Almoruf Kosoko, better known as Adekunle Gold, has justified the decision of his colleague, Davido, to threaten to report political developments during the Osun State governorship election to US President Donald Trump, saying Nigeria is not a true democratic nation.
The ‘Orente’ crooner made this known while appearing as a guest on a recent episode of the One54 Podcast.
According to Adekunle Gold, Davido appealed to President Donald Trump to pay close attention to the recently held Osun gubernatorial poll because he does not believe the country respects the tenets of true democracy.
The 39-year-old artist added that, based on how the country operates, it does not function like other nations that follow democratic principles.
Adekunle Gold, however, noted that he hoped the President Bola Tinubu-led administration would perform better than the previous one regarding good governance and the preservation of democratic values.
He said: “I think Davido sent that message to Donald Trump because we are not truly practising democracy in Nigeria.
“We are not doing what a democratic society should do. I just hope this administration does better than the previous one.”
