We stand because we’re united, says Igbinoba

Nasarawa United midfielder, Esosa Igbinoba, has attributed the success of the team so far to the unity among the players and the technical crew.

“The unity in the team has contributed immensely to our success so far as well as the motivation from the technical crew and state government,” he said.

“We are united as a team which has been helping us. The Coach, Kabiru Dogo, also instills discipline in us.

“The state government has been helpful too; giving us our due on time. This serves as a great motivation for us as players.

“We will surely pick a continental ticket at the end of the season because that was our target at the beginning.”

Igbinoba wants to beat Mfon Udoh’s record of 23 goals scored in a single season created last term.

He currently tops the scorer’s chart of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) with 15 goals and knows the door is still open with six games to go.

“I believe I can get the 23 goals although I have no target for now. I just want to be scoring goals and let’s see what I can achieve at the end of the season.

“At the beginning of the season, I didn’t see myself in this position as the top scorer at this stage in the campaign.

“Last season, I scored nine goals as a midfielder, and now I have already got 15, so anything can still happen before the end of the season.”

He said whatever happens at the end of the season, he would count it success.

Igbinoba was named the League Bloggers Awards (LBA) Player for September after shooting to the top of the scorer’s chart.
