Super Falcons head coach Justine Madugu has said his players failed to live up to his expectations during their 1-0 win over Botswana.

The 60-year-old tactician made this known while speaking after the encounter played at the Larbi Zaouli Stadium in Casablanca, Morocco on Thursday night.

Nigeria struggled to break down the Mares defence despite dominating possession from start to finish.

The nine-time champions had no shot on target in the first half, and looked disjointed at times.

However, Botswana’s resistance was eventually broken, when Esther Okoronkwo fired a low cross into the six-yard box and Chiwendu Ihezuo was on hand to turn the ball into the net in the 90th minute.
