​Nollywood actress and filmmaker Uche Jombo has admitted that bidding Argentina captain Lionel Messi goodbye is harder than expected ahead of his final match for his country.

​The thespian made her feelings known on Tuesday in an emotional tribute she shared on her verified Instagram handle.

​Messi made his final appearance for Argentina on Tuesday, October 6, in a farewell friendly against Benin Republic at the Estadio Monumental in Buenos Aires.

​The encounter ended 3-0 in favour of the home side, with the 39-year-old Inter Miami forward finding the net in the 71st minute from the penalty spot.

​However, ahead of the encounter, Uche Jombo took to her verified handle to express how much she and other football fans would miss him.

​She wrote: “I honestly don’t know how to say goodbye to you, Leo!”

​Uche Jombo, however, found some comfort in knowing that Messi will continue playing club football for now.

​Recalling how the Argentine legend became part of the lives of football fans who watched him grow, celebrate victories, and endure painful defeats, the thespian praised his determination.

​She went on to recall the pressure he faced while representing Argentina before eventually lifting the World Cup.

​“I will always remember the little moments, the way you carried the weight of a nation,” Jombo said.

​For her, Messi’s farewell is not simply about football; it represents the closing of a chapter that shaped an entire generation of fans.

​She went on to thank Messi for teaching fans about resilience and perseverance, describing his journey as one of repeatedly getting back up after setbacks.

​Jombo also acknowledged Messi’s “art” and celebrated his transformation from a boy from Rosario into a global legend.

​“Thank you for making football feel like art,” she wrote.
