Too loud DJ Cuppy laments lack of committed relationship

By Jeph Ajobaju, Chief Copy Editor

DJ Cuppy (real name Florence), the daughter of oil billionaire Femi Otedola, has lamented being “played” by guys who leave her in the lurch after coming close then ghost her for all manner of reasons, some disclosed, some unsaid.

She moaned she is “the most played this year”, citing her failed engagement to British boxer Ryan Taylor, who broke up with her in July after seven months of their well publicised romance – which caused her a heartbreak (see solutions below).

“You don’t have to check Spotify; my heart was the most played this year,” she wrote on X, formerly Twitter, at the weekend, per Daily Post.

Attention-seeking Cuppy, 31, had earlier lamented her lot at a recent Women in Management, Business, and Public Service (WIMBIZ) conference in London, where she said:

“Last year I got engaged and I am no longer engaged but such is life and I know my story is still happening and there is more to come and I am okay with the uncertainties.”

Tips for Cuppy to get and keep a husband

Long before Cuppy met Taylor last year, she had been out with, or rumoured to be close to, some other men – including Anthony Joshua, another British boxer but of Nigerian descent.

If Cuppy is serious about getting married, she may do well to learn from her younger sister, Temi, 27, who got married to singer Mr Eazi this year. Temi is low-key and does not flaunt things, unlike her elder sister.

If Cuppy wants to keep a man, and does not want to be played again, below are some of the things she should note pertaining to most men in every society in the world.

1. Pray to God to give you the husband God already chose for you before the foundation of the world (Ephesian 1:4; 2:10), not a husband you choose by yourself. You only accept whomever God Himself has chosen for you (Psalm 47:4).

2. You are an heiress to an oil fortune worth billions of naira, you ride on a private jet, and drive a Ferrari bought for you by your dad, as he did for your siblings. You also own a Rolls Royce Phantom and other posh cars.  Do not let them get into your head.

3. You have two Master’s degrees, one from Oxford. That is intimidating to plenty guys. So do not flaunt them.

4. The first thing a husband wants from his wife is respect. Not sex. Present yourself a wife material by being humble above all.

5. You are too publicity-seeking. You post nearly every personal thing about yourself on social media. A man wants a woman he can keep for himself. Not a woman who advertises herself to every man and therefore cannot be kept.

6. A man wants a wife who can help improve him. Pray to God to help you show your intelligence by studying and knowing your man to be able to suggest how the man can improve on who he is and what he does.

7. No responsible man puts up with a drama queen, who loves to attract attention to herself, and loves to be at the centre of her own universe.

8. Men marry women of good character. A woman’s beauty may draw a man to her, but she cannot keep a reasonable man if she lacks good character. Be a helper and a giver to your man (Genesis 2:18). A reasonable man will appreciate your good gestures and also reciprocate them (1 Peter 3:7).

9. You are too obsessed with yourself, as seen in your social media posts. Samples:

  • You in a pink wig (and highlighting a big bum) jumping into the sea in Dubai from a boat.
  • You travelling alone on a private jet, and announcing you need more friends (hoping at least one man would catch up with you up there to keep you company).
  • You adopting two puppies (dogs) as your children!
  • You engaging in other frivolous things just to attract attention to yourself.

10. Is that all you are, shallow stuff? You are presenting yourself as a plaything, woman, and that will only attract playboys to you.

11. Since you have put yourself out there in the public space, be heard and be seen fighting good causes for others, and for a better society. That will help draw to you some good and responsible men who will respect you (for your Godly principles) and connect with you emotionally. One of them will turn out to be your husband.

12. Pray for God to confirm to you personally that a man is your husband before you agree to date him or accept his marriage proposal (Psalm 47:4). Do not get involved romantically with a man God has not confirmed as your husband. It leads to heartbreak and regret, as you have now experienced firsthand.

13. Read Proverbs 31:10-31 for the Biblical definition of a virtuous woman who is a wife material. Pray for God to give you the wisdom and grace to adopt and to live by these virtues, even before you get a husband – to make it easier to practise them in marriage.

14. A typical man, Black or White, sees a woman as a woman. And you are a woman, Cuppy. Be gentle and patient, even when you are upset.  Make your point. Stand your ground when necessary, but be reasonable about it.

15. Your man is a man, you are a woman. Allow him to lead you, a woman. Do not make a man feel you already have everything, so he does not have much to offer you.

16. A good wife does not neglect the bedroom. She has to be good in that department so her husband does not get drawn away by strange women who are everywhere on the prowl to destroy other people’s marriages and homes.

17. Besides everything else, learn to be a good cook (1Timothy 5:14; Titus 2:3-5). Sit beside or opposite your man and chat with him while he eats your food. Every responsible man loves and prefers to eat good food prepared by his wife (not by the housemaid). A caring man also cooks for his wife, at least once in a while.

18. Be a friend to your man. And be good to him. Life is give and take. If you respect him and also treat him good – and if he is a reasonable man, he will also respect and treat you good.

19. A reasonable man never forgets a woman who respects him and is good to him.  He always thinks of her, and comes back to her physically or emotionally.

20. A reasonable woman never leaves a man who knows her and is good to her.
