Businessman and All Progressives Congress (APC) 2023 governorship candidate in Rivers State, Tonye Cole, has dismissed suggestions that he will be joining the former Minister of Transport, Rotimi Amaechi, in the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
He made this known on Tuesday while featuring as a guest on Arise Television programme, ‘Prime Time’.
Cole attempted to become Rivers State governor twice in 2019 and 2023 but was unsuccessful on both occasions.
However, after failing twice, he has once again declared his intention to run for the number one seat in the state come 2027.
Speaking on his relationship with Amaechi, the APC chieftain acknowledged that the ex-governor of Rivers played a pivotal role in introducing him into politics.
He noted that while Amaechi is now pursuing the presidency, he remains focused on Rivers state.
Cole further stated that he remains committed to the APC and has no intention of following Amaechi to the ADC.

He said, “Nobody can take away the fact that he brought me into politics.
“I have always had a lot of respect for individuals like Rotimi Amaechi and others.
“I have consistently said he has a goal and ambition where he wants to go, and so do I. I have my own ambition and goals.”
He also said even though he disagreed with the conduct of the recently concluded Local Governments’ election in the state, all aggrieved parties should move on.
“I’ve already spoken about the local government elections. I feel that we could have done it differently. It could have been done better. It could have been done with a much more holistic approach of engaging people and making sure that they understand that this is a process that affects their ultimate well being.
“I don’t agree with the way the elections were done, but it is done; all we have to do is move on to the next one,” Cole also said.
