Real Madrid forward Kylian Mbappé appeared reticent on Monday while addressing assertions that his former club, Paris Saint-Germain, achieved greater European success by winning the UEFA Champions League (UCL) back-to-back following his departure.
He reacted to the claim after joining his manager, José Mourinho, for the pre-match press conference ahead of his team’s opening UCL clash against Serie A champions Inter Milan at the Bernabéu.
Mbappé left PSG in 2024 under tense and acrimonious circumstances after refusing to trigger a contract extension, choosing instead to depart as a free agent to join Real Madrid. His relationship with PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi frayed significantly during the standoff, leading to his temporary exclusion from the pre-season tour and squad.
However, since his departure, the French giants have clinched the UEFA Champions League title in consecutive seasons—winning the trophy for the first time in their history and becoming the first European side to retain it since Real Madrid’s three consecutive victories between 2016 and 2018.

In contrast, Mbappé has not experienced much success at the Bernabéu, as he has yet to secure a significant accolade since arriving in Spain.
When questioned about PSG’s achievements following his exit, the French forward acknowledged that it is one perspective, but remained largely evasive and declined to elaborate further.
”Well, I think it’s just another analysis. In the end, talking about me sells a lot, and I accept that. It’s fine. But it’s just another analysis,” Mbappé said.
