Tony Tyler, the CEO IATA Award to Gervais Koffi Djondo

Key stakeholders from the aviation industry were brought together in Nairobi on June 23 and 24 for the Middle-East Africa aviation day under the theme ‘Connecting Africa’ focusing on the development of frameworks to promote connectivity in regulations, commerce, and operations.

During the opening ceremony, which featured the participation from senior government and industry leaders, the International Air Transport Association (IATA) presented Gervais Koffi Djondo, Founder and Chairman of ASKY airlines, with an award for: “his visionary leadership, dedication and commitment to the aviation industry and determination through ASKY to improve connectivity, facilitate movement of people and goods, promote socio-cultural integration and create jobs…”.

 

Mr Djondo received the plague from the hands of Tony Tyler, the CEO of IATA.

 

Gervais Koffi Djondo is a Togolese entrepreneur, a committed pan Africanist who created ECOBANK, the African multinational bank before venturing in the airline industry and founding ASKY, the pan African airline. Mr Djondo is a firm believer of the “power of the vision” and has been promoting unity for Africa and Africans for several decades.
