President Bola Tinubu has encouraged Nigerians to continue to criticise him and disagree with his policies, as long as they do not stop believing in the country.

He made this known on Friday during his nationwide broadcast to mark this year’s “Democracy Day”, otherwise known as “June 12“.

Speaking during the celebration of the anniversary of Nigeria’s uninterrupted democracy, the president noted that democracy fails when citizens doubt the process.

He went on to say that the National Assembly, the judiciary, the press, and civil society are the guardrails of the country’s democracy.

While addressing Nigerians, Tinubu said, “Criticise me, disagree with me, but never stop believing in the nation.

“To our young people, Nigeria is your home and your future. Build here, work here, and eat here. Every great nation was built by those who stayed to solve problems, not by those who abandoned ship.

“To our forces, police, and intelligence services, Nigeria salutes your sacrifices. To our traditional rulers, faith leaders, and community heads, thank you for your support of peace and reconciliation.”
