Bola Tinubu has pivoted from democratic President to “full-blown” dictator by sponsoring violent attacks on the activities of opposition parties in order to remain in office, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar alleged at the weekend.
Atiku, presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the last campaign, alerted on X that Tinubu and his administration pose the greatest risk to Nigeria’s democracy since the return of democratic governance in 1999.
He made the point when he paid a solidarity visit to former Kaduna Governor Nasir el-Rufai over his attack by thugs at the inauguration of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in the state, just as they recently attacked Rauf Aregebesola in Ogun for launching the ADC there.
“This evening, I paid a solidarity visit to former Governor of Kaduna State, Mallam Nasir el-Rufai, over his attack by APC-sponsored thugs at the recent inauguration of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Kaduna State,” Atiku posted.
“I reiterated that the activities of the Tinubu-led APC administration pose the greatest risk to our democracy since the return of democratic governance.
“It is concerning that this administration has turned into a full-blown dictatorship.”
El-Rufai himself also warned at the weekend that Tinubu would become “the Paul Biya of Nigeria” if not voted out of the Villa in 2027.
Biya, 92, who has been Cameroonian President for 43 years, is seeking an eighth term in office in the ballot on October 12.
But his daughter Brenda, known as “King Nasty,” has taken to Tik Tok to caution fellow citizens not to re-elect her father because his rule for all of these four decades has left Cameroon with poverty, unemployment, and stagnation.
Aso Rock has denied that, Tinubu, heavily criticised by most Nigerians for his tax and squander policies, is seeking to be life President.
