A dirty environment

Jeremiah told TheNiche in an interview that his inspiration to start a cleaning service came from high demand from clients. “Clients often asked if I knew anyone to clean their houses after helping them find a place. That sparked an interest. I love a clean environment, and seeing untidy spaces irritates me. I saw it as an opportunity”, he recalled. The business he launched in April 2025 is now gaining traction as more clients troop in to order for his services.

Starting up Cubaniwhite Ltd

Jeremiah, after realizing that he could be the solution his clients wanted for a cleaning service, trained for a month to gain more knowledge of the job. He also said his experience in car wash during covid-19 helped him learn fast. “During the covid-19 period, I worked in a car wash. That gave me a little experience on cleaning services. So, when I went to train, it was easy for me to learn fast,” he said.

Jeremiah launched his cleaning services after training, offering deep cleaning, general cleaning, basic cleaning, upholstery cleaning, construction cleaning, etc. He said he’s still upgrading himself with relevant trainings.

Capital

In sourcing for capital for his business, Jeremiah said he started with what he had available and progressed to buying better equipment as he made money from the job. In his words; “Capital wasn’t much of a problem for me. Like my mentor always says, before you invest or put money in any business, first put money in yourself. Invest in yourself. I went for training to invest in myself. I started small with available materials.

“Good enough, cleaning services don’t require much. So, I started from where I was and, little by little, I kept growing, reinvesting every little profit into the business, buying equipment that’d make the job easier and faster”.

Penetrating the market

The CEO of Cubaniwhite Ltd said getting known with his services didn’t take long. He started with his friends and made progress through referrals.

Experience

Eye on the future

Jeremiah’s experience centers on the human factor. He recalled having a huge job and paying a professional to help assist him with her team, but she absconded. “I paid her part of the money before we were supposed to start the job. I called her to come with her people. She didn’t pick the call till today. The job was supposed to be a two-day job with her team, but it lasted longer because I ended up doing it alone. But that taught me a lesson not to trust people,” he added.

Breakthrough

Jeremiah’s breakthrough came from his second job. He said the job gave him connections. “The guy I did the job for keeps announcing me till today. That particular property was a total mess. Even when I took the job, I was asking myself how am I going to do this. I thank God that job came out fine.

“In fact, when I finished, my client’s friend was asking him how he did it and he introduced them to me, that I was the one that did it. And ever since then, he hasn’t stopped referring me to potential clients,” he said.

Business challenges

The CEO of Cubaniwhite Ltd identified high cost of materials, transportation system and human factor as his major challenges doing business in Nigeria. He said the fluctuating prices of goods in the market could cause one to lose customers.

“You can charge a client for a particular product and when you get back to the market, you’ll find out the price has changed. That becomes another problem because you’ll need to relay to the person so you don’t lose your customer, and that could also be a loss to our end,” he said.

For transportation, he said it’s a challenge moving materials to a destination for his services because the fare is high. But he said he’s looking at buying a car to make mobility easy.

He also mentioned human factor, saying that young people aren’t willing to do the job. “When you call them for jobs, they keep giving excuses”, he said.

Jeremiah in a relaxed mood

Japa

Jeremiah sees the problems in Nigeria as a good opportunity to make money. According to him, anywhere there is problem, there is opportunity.  “The solutions are always in the problem. Nigeria has a lot of problems to be solved, and when you can solve any of these problems, there is money to make. And you will become a great man.

“I am not going to leave this country to go and become a slave in another man’s country. I will make my money here and only travel for vacations. I love my country and I am proud of my country Nigeria,” he said.
