Team Nigeria begins quest for medals at CAA Senior Athletics Championship in Ghana

As the Confederation of African Athletics Senior (CAA) Championships commence in Accra, Ghana on Monday,Team Nigeria’s Athletes have pledged to retain the title they won two years ago as champions.
To this end, 26 athletes comprising male and female will contest for medals including over 20 countries in the sub-region will compete in 22 events.
Leading Team Nigeria quest for honours is veteran quarter-miler Patience George Okon who will once again take center stage in sub-region athletics meeting as it it would also feature two of its finest female athletes representing Nigeria at the CAA Region ll Championship in Accra, Ghana they are MariaThompson and Victoria Kparika Pursue Continental Glory in Ghana.
Other notable home-based athletes that traveled to Ghana, seeking a career-defining moment with a podium finish include Maria Thompson, a rising star, joins George Okon in the relay team, earning recognition for her determination. Victoria Kparika, a talented javelin thrower, completes the trio, admired for her strength, technique, and consistency in field events. Pristina Ochonogor is another athlete Nigeria relies on for a medal, as an Olympian and Peru World junior debutant, Ochonogor excels in the women’s Long jump event.
The CAA Africa Championship will feature elite athletes from across the sub-region competing for glory, with Nigerian athletes’ participation strengthening medal prospects and showcasing the nation’s reputation as a breeding ground for world-class sports talent
