The Super Eagles of Nigeria have maintained their 26th position globally in the latest FIFA World Rankings, despite dropping to fourth position in Africa.
In the rankings released on Monday, Morocco’s Atlas Lions—who lost to France at the quarter-final stage of the World Cup—retained their position as the number one team on the continent, moving up one spot from seventh to sixth in the world.
The Teranga Lions of Senegal, on the other hand, dropped three places globally but retained second position in Africa.

Following their 2026 World Cup exploits, the Pharaohs of Egypt moved up to third place on the continent, while Algeria dropped from 28th to 29th globally, doubling as the fifth-ranked African team.
On the world stage, newly crowned World Cup champions Spain returned to the summit, while Argentina dropped to second position. France, England, and Brazil complete the top five teams in the world.
The next FIFA World Rankings will be released on Wednesday, 7 October 2026.
