England boss, Gareth Southgate has tied down their resounding 3-0 victory over African Champions, Senegal in the round of 16 of the ongoing World Cup in Qatar, to two major things.

Southgate made the assertion while speaking with ITV after the match, claiming his team’s ruthlessness in front of the goal was the difference between the two teams.

The Three Lions coach watched as two goals in the first half by Jordan Henderson, and Harry Kane and another one from Bukayo Saka in the second half gave England the victory at Al Bayt Stadium.

The result means England will now face deafening champions, France, who defeated Poland in another last-16 on Sunday at the quarter-final stages.

Speaking after the game, Southgate highlighted the Three Lions’ ability to take their chances as his most pleasing takeaway from the performance, adding that his team worked off the ball and without the ball.

He said, “I think the ruthlessness of our execution (was my favourite part).

“But the way the team worked off the ball, and without the ball. I think in the end we were a bit sticky with the ball in the first 25-30 minutes.

Senegal had a lot of energy, they pressed well, and their shape was good. And really our best opportunities came from winning the ball from them.”
