A medical doctor, who embarked on treating wounded kidnappers in their hideouts in Kwara State, has been arrested.
According to Rafiu Ajakaye, the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, the medical officer was intercepted at Jebba in Moro Local Government Area when he was ferrying drugs from Sokoto to the kidnappers.
Ajakaye said the doctor was intercepted following intelligence reports about the activities of the kidnappers and their couriers.
He said the suspect is currently in the custody of the Department of Security Service (DSS) in the state which apprehended him.

Ajakaye quoted the security agency as saying that the criminal gangs appear desperate for medical care following gunshot wounds sustained in encounters with security forces.
He said some security officials are envisaging possible attack on health facilities in remote areas by the kidnappers who may be desperate for medical treatment and are advising on reinforcement of security at the facilities.
“So, we are advising improved security measures in health facilities in thickly forested areas which the kidnappers may target,” he quoted a security official as saying.
