Only lazy people can complain of hunger, says Tinubu’s campaign DG, Abdulaziz Yari

The Director General of President Bola Tinubu’s re-election campaign council, Abdulaziz Yari, has argued that only lazy people can complain of hunger.
Yari, a former governor of Zamfara State and current senator representing Zamfara West in the National Assembly, made the remark during the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential campaign rally in Akwa Ibom State on November 6.
Addressing supporters at the rally, Yari drew a comparison with his home state of Zamfara, where he claimed food was readily available in the markets.
He asked the crowd whether anyone who went to the market with money would return without finding food to buy. The audience initially remained silent, prompting him to repeat the question before some members of the crowd responded in the affirmative.
He said:
“Those that are saying we have hunger, let me ask a question. From where I came from, we have food in the market. In Akwa Ibom, are there any person who took his money to the market and find out there is no rice?”
The crowd remained silent.
Yari then challenged them to respond, repeating the question: “Is there any person with money in his pocket who goes to the market and finds out there is no foodstuff?”
Some members of the crowd responded, “No.”
He subsequently argued that food availability in the market meant there was no hunger, adding that anyone who was not lazy would be able to afford food.
“If there is no food in the market, then there is a problem of hunger. But anyone who is not a lazy person will definitely have food on his table,” he said.
