Nigeria’s Vice-President, Kashim Shettima, has assured citizens that the administration led by President Bola Tinubu will ensure insurgents do not destroy the country or intimidate the people.

He made the pledge recently on X (formerly Twitter) via a statement shared by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media & Communications, Stanley Nkwocha.

Shettima’s comments followed a deadly attack by terrorists in parts of Borno State, which reportedly resulted in coordinated assaults on military locations in Konduga, Marte, Jakana, and Mainok, as well as abductions in Ngoshe.

Reacting to the development, the Vice-President condemned the violence, stating that the government remains determined to protect the lives and property of Nigerians.

Shettima added that the Federal Government has begun deploying more tactical equipment and intelligence support to the affected areas.

“The events of the past few days are painful, but we must choose hope over fear,” he said.

He noted that President Tinubu has already been briefed on the situation and has ordered a quick and full mobilisation of Nigeria’s security system.

“The Federal Government will not allow any place in Nigeria to become a safe haven for people who want to displace citizens or take over any part of our land,” the Vice-President said.

Shettima further assured Nigerians that those responsible for the attacks would face the full force of the law.

President Tinubu had earlier reached out to the government and people of Borno State following the incident.
