Nigeria will host the Black Stars of Ghana in a must-win game on Tuesday at Moshood Abiola Stadium Abuja, having played a 0-0 draw in the first leg last Friday in Kumasi.

Taribo West was one of the former internationals invited for a novelty match to mark the All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain’s 70th birthday recently.

The ex-Super Eagles players, captained by Austin Jay Jay Okocha, in the friendly match defeated the Lagos team 2-0.

The 50-year-old West, who is now a preacher, faced a backlash from Nigerians after a video of him praying fervently for former Lagos State governor, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu’s success in the 2023 presidential election, went viral before the match.

Reacting via his Twitter handle on Sunday, Shehu Sani wondered why Taribo shouldn’t extend such a gesture to the Super Eagles who are his constituency

He also guessed that Nigerians may not buy the idea after he prayed for Tinubu.

He wrote,  “Nigeria plays Ghana on Tuesday; if I nominate Taribo West to pray for us, some of you will say no.”
